Van Phuc silk village, Thay and Tay Phuong Pagodas

(1 day - tour code VPTTP01)

This excursion from Hanoi visits some of the most interesting sites of traditional handicrafts – silk, rattan, bamboo – and famous pagodas with Antique Buddhas around Hanoi : Thay Pagoda and Tay Phuong Pagoda.

The tour starts at 8h30 from Hanoi.
The first stop is the Van Phuc silk village, 12km southwest of the capital. Vietnam’s finest silks are produced here and most are transported to Hanoi’s famous ‘silk street’ Hang Gai in the city’s Old Quarter.

We visit the ancient village of Phu Vinh, which specializes in making rattan and bamboo products. Here we can visit a workshop where everything, from flower baskets to plates, is created before being exported overseas.

From Phu Vinh we drive to Thay Pagoda where we will have our picnic. The Thay Pagoda is a collection of small temples nestled at the foot of a large limestone formation, characteristic of the area. One of the most interesting features is the small stage located on the lake itself. You can also discover charming temples and the 17th century Chinese-style covered bridges.

Our final stop is the Tay Phuong Pagoda. The present structure dates from the 18th century and is famous for its impressive collection of wooden statues depicting the Buddha and other minor Buddhist gods such as Vairapanis and Arhats.

From there we drive back to Hanoi where we should arrive no later than 6pm.
